At Sowmya’s Nritya Niketan, we are dedicated to preserving and spreading the timeless art of Bharatanatyam, focusing on the rich traditions of the Kalakshetra Bani / style. Founded in Bristol, UK, by Sowmya, an aspiring Bharatanatyam dancer and instructor, our school offers personalized training for students of all ages, combining classical techniques with cultural insights to create a holistic learning experience.

Sowmya’s journey in Bharatanatyam is driven by her passion for the classical arts and her desire to connect with her heritage. As a CID Member of UNESCO, she is committed to upholding the global values of dance and fostering cultural exchange through performances and education.

Her extensive training includes participation in esteemed workshops like the Ashtanayakan Workshop with Janarthanan Sir, which delves into the nuanced storytelling aspects of Bharatanatyam, and various workshops to explore this art form, focusing on the evolution of abhinaya in both traditional and modern contexts.

Sowmya has showcased her artistry on international stages, including the prestigious Greece International Dance Festival at the Dora Stratou Auditorium (UNESCO), and has performed at temples across the UK during traditional Indian festivals.
